Andrew Schoettler is a drummer and music educator based in Guelph, Ontario. Known for his dynamic groove and grounded musicality, Andrew blends elements of jazz, funk, and fusion into his playing. He’s currently performing across southern Ontario and is the founder and host of the Silence Jazz Jam — a monthly event that brings local musicians together in a welcoming, collaborative space.
There was no particular reason Andrew first picked up the drums — it just clicked. But with a musical mother and a home full of rhythm, his path into music felt inevitable. Over time, drumming evolved from a casual interest into a core part of his identity. He studied music at the University of Guelph (alongside a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics) and developed his voice through live performance, ensemble work, and the mentorship of musicians who emphasized musicality, feel, and community.
What sets Andrew apart is his ability to blend structure with spontaneity, whether he’s behind the kit or helping a student build confidence through rhythm. Outside of music, he’s into fitness, gaming, and slowly inching into content creation — always looking for new ways to connect creativity and curiosity.
